the weekend of July 26th & 27th, 2008: |
We always enjoy visiting with the Booth Brothers (our Featured Artists
on this edition), and this time was certainly no exception. It's hard to
say their new CD, "Room For More," is their best ever, because their
recordings have always been exceptional. But this one does seem to move these
guys and their music to a new level. "Welcome To The Family," their
current radio song from this CD, is getting heavy airplay and great audience
response. I enjoyed the message (and, of course, the music) in their song
"What Salvation's Done For Me." And I liked the very personal involvement
for Jim Brady regarding his song "Peace In The Shelter." How'd
you like what Michael's son said to him the car as they listened to
Michael's recording? A chip off the old block! More info about the Booth
Brothers can be found at their
website.
The Booth Brothers' CD featured on this program, "Room For More,"

our official Singing News Top 20 Countdown Edition, reflecting the
chart published in the magazine's August issue.
Congratulations to Mike & Kelly
Bowling for their new number one song, "Your Cries Have Awoken The
Master." This song is unusual in several ways. It was the first number
one song that was distributed primarily to radio through digital downloads
rather than on CD. (I'm not sure if it ever made it to a promotional "radio
CD" I never saw one.) It was actually the second
number one song by this group, the first being "We Have A Savior"
last December. And remarkably, neither of those songs is actually available
yet on a regular CD! That will change very soon when Mike & Kelly Bowling
release their new
"Faith
To Believe" CD, which includes both of those songs and quite a few
more. It will be available through
springside.com
as soon as it releases. (Pre-orders are being accepted
now.)
The website for the Southern Gospel Music School of America, discussed
on this program's Headline Update, is
www.sgmsa.com. Although this year's school
is over, you may find information there for future reference if you're
interested. We have reported in the past about numerous other singing schools.
